In short

  • Your drinks, your body details and your whole collection are stored on your device. Nimbi has no accounts, and we run no server that receives them.
  • Apple Health and local weather are optional, and only work if you turn them on. Health data is never used for advertising.
  • Nimbi uses Google AdMob for advertising in versions that show ads, and Google Firebase to help the app run reliably. Both can process device identifiers and usage data, but never your drinks, body details or Health data.

01What this policy covers

This policy is about Nimbi, the water tracker for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Android, and this website, which introduces the app. “We” and “us” mean the team that makes Nimbi. Questions about anything here can go to nexmindltd.support@gmail.com.

02What stays on your device

Nimbi does not need an account. The following is stored locally on your device, and on your Apple Watch if you pair one:

  • the name you give your cloud, and your own name if you add it;
  • what your goal is based on: your sex and pregnancy or breastfeeding status if you choose to share them, your weight, activity level and usual weather, and your wake and sleep times;
  • every drink you log, with its time, amount, hydration, caffeine, calories and sugar, plus the drinks you create;
  • your reminder settings, including any messages you write;
  • your streaks, cloud friends, islands, decorations, outfits, Voyages, Sky Notes and reports, and your Focus sessions if you use them.

We do not receive this information, and Nimbi does not send it to AdMob or Firebase. You can erase it at any time with “Delete all data” in the app. Removing the app deletes its local data according to how your device handles app removal. Device backups you have made are managed outside the app.

Two small things also happen only on the device. On iPhones with Apple’s on-device language model, a one-line daily highlight can be written from that day’s numbers. And the app can read the motion sensor so the water sloshes when you tilt your phone. Those readings are used in the moment and are not stored.

03Apple Health

Connecting to Apple Health is optional and available on iPhone. If you turn it on, Nimbi can save your water, caffeine and dietary energy to Apple Health, and, if you choose, read water recorded by other apps so it counts toward your day. Apple asks for your permission first, and you can change it at any time in the Health app or iOS Settings.

Information from Apple Health stays on your device. We do not receive it, we do not sell it, and we do not use it or disclose it for advertising, marketing or data mining. It is never sent to AdMob or Firebase.

04Location and local weather

“Adjust with local weather” is off until you turn it on. When it is on, Nimbi asks your device for a low-accuracy location, while you are using the app, and rounds it to two decimal places, which is accurate to about a kilometer. Those rounded coordinates go to Open-Meteo, a weather service, to get the day’s forecast and adjust your goal.

We do not receive your location, and the app does not keep a history of where you have been. Like any web service, Open-Meteo sees your IP address with the request. Its terms say its server logs may include coordinates and are deleted after 90 days. Turn the setting off to stop these requests, and you can withdraw location permission in your device’s settings.

05Advertising with Google AdMob

Nimbi uses AdMob, an advertising service from Google, to show ads in versions of the app that display them. AdMob works through the Google Mobile Ads SDK, which runs inside the app and connects to Google’s servers when an ad is requested. The data is used for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention: to deliver and measure ads, limit how often you see the same ad, prevent abuse and, where you allow it, personalize ads. It is encrypted in transit.

According to Google’s disclosures, the SDK can collect:

DataWhat it means
Device identifiersOn iPhone and iPad, the advertising identifier (IDFA) if you allow tracking, or other identifiers limited to the app or developer. On Android, the advertising ID and app set ID, and, if applicable, other identifiers tied to signed-in accounts.
IP address and coarse locationYour IP address, which may be used to estimate your general location. Not your precise location.
Advertising dataSuch as which ads you have seen.
Product interactionsSuch as app launches, taps and video views.
Performance and diagnosticsSuch as app launch time, hang rate, energy use and crash logs.

Your choices

  • iPhone and iPad. A version of Nimbi that wants to use the advertising identifier asks first, through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, you may still see ads, but they will not use that identifier and may be less relevant. Change this any time in iOS Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Tracking.
  • Android. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device’s settings, usually under Privacy, then Ads.
  • EEA, UK and Switzerland. Where the law requires it, a consent message from Google’s User Messaging Platform appears before ads load, and you can review your choice in the app.
  • Your Google controls. You can manage ad personalization in Google’s My Ad Center.

Ads are chosen and served by Google and its partners, not by us. Tapping an ad may take you outside Nimbi, where the advertiser’s own terms and privacy practices apply. Learn more in how Google uses information from apps that use its services, the Google Mobile Ads SDK disclosures for iOS and Android, and the Google Privacy Policy.

06App services with Google Firebase

Nimbi includes Firebase, Google’s platform for building and operating apps. We use it to keep the app reliable and to understand, in general terms, how it is performing. What Firebase handles depends on the features enabled in the version of Nimbi you use:

FeatureData it can processHow long
Firebase CoreApp configuration needed to connect Nimbi to Firebase services.Not used to store your activity
Google Analytics for FirebaseAn app-instance identifier, general app-usage events such as screens opened, device and system details, and approximate location.Under Google’s Analytics retention settings
CrashlyticsCrash traces, a Crashlytics installation UUID and a Firebase installation ID.90 days

For most Firebase services Google acts as a data processor or service provider on our behalf. Google Analytics is provided under its own terms. Most Firebase services run on Google’s global infrastructure, so data may be processed wherever Google operates. Read Privacy and Security in Firebase for details.

07Reminders, widgets, Watch and Siri

Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device, and we run no server that sends them. Widgets, Live Activities and Control Center show a short summary, such as today’s total, your streak and your cloud’s name, so anyone who can see your screen can see it too. Their visibility is controlled by your device settings. Your iPhone and Apple Watch keep each other up to date through Apple’s connection between your own devices. Siri and Shortcuts can log a drink or read out today’s progress when you ask them to.

08Nimbi Plus purchases

Purchases are handled by the App Store or Google Play through your store account. We never receive your card details. The app only learns from the store whether Nimbi Plus is active on your account. The store’s own privacy policy applies to the payment. The “Ask an adult” step before a purchase happens on the device, and we do not receive its answers.

09What you choose to share or export

You can export your drinks as a CSV file and share cards, reports and wallpapers through your device’s share sheet. If you save a wallpaper or card to Photos, the app asks only for permission to add to your library, not to read it. A CSV contains your drink history, so please keep it somewhere you trust. Wherever you send a file, such as a cloud drive or a messaging app, handles it under its own terms.

10When you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include. Messages started from inside the app also include the app version and your device’s operating system to help us troubleshoot. They do not include your drinks or body details unless you add them. We use your message to reply, and our email provider processes it to deliver and store it. Please leave out passwords and payment details.

11Why we handle this information

Depending on where you live, we rely on one or more of these legal grounds:

  • Consent, for Apple Health, location, and personalized advertising and tracking where the law requires it;
  • Legitimate interests, for funding Nimbi through ads, keeping it secure and stable, and preventing fraud;
  • Providing the service, for purchases and answering your requests;
  • Legal obligations, where we are required to keep or disclose information.

12Sharing and selling

We do not sell your personal information for money. Beyond the providers named in this policy, information may be disclosed where the law requires it, or to protect safety and legal rights.

Some US state laws treat sharing identifiers for personalized advertising as a “sale” or “sharing”. To opt out, use your device’s tracking or advertising ID settings and Google’s ad controls above. Google, Open-Meteo, Cloudflare and our email provider operate in several countries, so information may be processed outside the country where you live, subject to the safeguards the law requires.

13How long information is kept

Local data stays on your device until you delete it or remove the app. Google keeps AdMob and Firebase data according to its own policies and the periods listed above. We keep support emails only as long as reasonably needed to help you and to meet legal obligations. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we handle.

14Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, object to or restrict its use, withdraw consent, and complain to a data protection authority. Most of Nimbi’s data lives only on your device, so you can see it, export it and delete it yourself. For anything else, email nexmindltd.support@gmail.com. Because Nimbi has no accounts, we may not be able to link Google’s data to you, so for that data please also use the controls described above.

15Children

Nimbi is made for a general audience. It does not ask for your age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or the minimum age in your country. We ask that younger children use Nimbi with a parent or guardian, who can also turn the optional connections above off. Purchases sit behind an “Ask an adult” step and the store’s own family controls. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

16This website

This website is delivered and protected by Cloudflare. Loading a page sends technical information such as your IP address, browser type, requested page and time, which is used to serve the page and keep it secure. The site shows no ads, sets no advertising cookies, runs no analytics, and loads its fonts from its own server. The little demos on the page run in your browser and nothing you tap is saved or sent. The soundtrack is only downloaded if you turn the sound on.

17Changes to this policy

We will update this page when Nimbi or its providers change, and revise the date at the top. If a change needs your consent or further notice, we will ask for it or provide it rather than relying on this page alone.
